The Airborne & Special Operations Museum The ASOM takes visitors on a walk through 65-years of Army airborne and special operations history, featuring life-size exhibits and displays of rare weapons and equipment and meaningful personal items. Averasboro Civil War Battlefield A 4,000 acre National Park Service designated historic intersected by a NC Scenic Byway (NC Highway 82). Attractions include the Averasboro Battlefield Museum, the Chicora Civil War Cemetary, the Confederate First Line Wayside and three antebellum plantation houses, all used as field houses during the battle. The eighty-acre garden features forty acres of sculpted gardens and another forty acres of urban forest, with mature pines and hardwoods and a vast array of native plants and wildlife.
