A very special exhibit will be on display in the Airborne & Special Operations Museum’s temporary exhibit hall, opening at 10 a.m. Friday, February 10, through January of 2013. “The Animal Called POW”: U.S. Special Forces Prisoners of the Vietcong describes the experience of U.S. Special Forces and Military Assistance Command, Vietnam (MACV) prisoners held in South Vietnam. The exhibit will also cover rescue missions, Survival, Evasion, Resistance and Escape (SERE) training and modern prisoners of war. |

Roll Call perpetuates the heritage and values of these soldiers through the use of the latest in computer database and Internet technology. Names and service information of active duty or veteran airborne and special operations soldiers are submitted over the Internet or through the mail and becomes a permanent part of the database maintained by the Airborne & Special Operations Museum. The collection of names and information is accessible and searchable through the Internet or at kiosks located in the museum lobby. Roll Call is being funded by grants from the John E. & Jeanne T. Hughes Foundation and The Coleman Foundation, which was established in 1951 by Marine colonel J.D. Stetson and D.W. Coleman, both at the direction of John E. Hughes. |

National Airborne Day

The public is invited to celebrate National Airborne Day on Saturday, August 13 at the Airborne & Special Operations Museum in downtown Fayetteville. This year’s annual National Airborne Day commemorates the 71st anniversary of the Army Parachute Test Platoon’s first official jump and the tenth anniversary of the museum.

4th Annual ASOMF Run for the Legend

Paver Section Dedication for Red Hats and Red Markers

A paver re-dedication and memorial service will take place at the Airborne & Special Operations Museum to honor the Vietnamese Airborne, US Army Red Hats and US Air Force Red Markers on Saturday, May 21, at 10am. After the official ceremony in the museum lobby pavers of three soldiers will be dedicated in front of the museum. Immediately following, pavers for one soldier and three Airmen will be dedicated in the museum’s Reflection Garden. |

Join the Airborne & Special Operations Museum Foundation for the second annual Museum Golf Tournament, Friday, March 18, at Stryker Golf Course, Fort Bragg, NC.
The shotgun start, Captain’s Choice format starts at noon with registration beginning at 10:30am. The tournament will feature prizes for first and second place, longest drive, closest to the pin and more. A meal will also be provided for golfers after the tournament.

To celebrate Heroes Homecoming, the Airborne & Special Operations Museum Foundation will be hosting many different events beginning Saturday, November 5, and running through Friday, November 14. On November 6 at 8am The Vietnam Moving Wall will be escorted to the museum by the Fayetteville Police Department and NC Rolling Thunder Chapter 1. At 3pm a Salute to Veterans ceremony will officially open the Parade Field, featuring flags representing veterans from all services. The Vietnam Moving Wall will also be open to the public at this time. The half-size replica of The Vietnam Wall in Washington, DC will allow visitors to experience seeing the more than 58,000 names of those service men and women who lost their lives during the Vietnam War. Rolling thunder volunteers will assist with locating names for visitors. The Vietnam Moving Wall will be on the museum grounds and open to the public 24 hours each day from November 6 through noon on November 14.
