Lineage
Constituted 3 February 1943 in the Army of the United States as Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment, 12th Airborne Antiaircraft Battalion and activated 10 February 1943 at Fort Bliss, Texas. (Departed Camp Stoneman, California during July 1943 for overseas service; arrived in Australia on 29 August 1943 and moved to New Guinea on 11 November 1943). Disbanded 20 June 1944 at Nadzab, New Guinea.
