February Focus Exhibits
Through February 23, Museum visitors will find several interesting displays in the main atrium and gallery area.
Field Jacket and Service Coat, c. 1974 – SSG Joyce Malone is honored during Black History month as she was one of the first African-American women to earn parachutist badge. She helped break the Army’s gender and racial barriers and paved the way for a more inclusive Army.
Sweetheart Gifts, c. 1941-1945 – Small tokens of affection given by Soldiers to their sweethearts during WWII.
48 Star American Flag – Donated to the ASOM by Mrs. Patty Kelly Stevens whose mother kept this flag hidden during their family’s 37-month interment at Los Banos Internment Camp on the Philippine island of Luzon.
503d Insignia – In 1945, then-PFC Thomas McNeill designed the unofficial insignia for the 503d on his duffle bag while injured on Mindoro Island in the Philippines.
