SOF K9 Memorial
The SOF (Special Operation Forces) K9 Memorial opened on 27 July 2013 with a collaborative effort between the SOF K9 Memorial Foundation, The Airborne & Special Operations Museum Foundation, Eagle Scout Harrison Burkart and the assistance of the FAPS (Fayetteville Animal Protective Society) constituency. The SOF K9 Memorial Foundation was looking for a proper location that would allow handlers who had lost their canines to reflect, honor and memorialize their partners in combat.
All the Canines memorialized on this hallowed ground died in combat operations while serving with the United States, United Kingdom, and Australian Special Operation Forces.
The first Eagle Scout Project was the landscape and sidewalk leading to the memorial, since then an Eagle Scout has added three flag poles for the United States, Great Britain, and Australia including lighting for continuance highlights to the memorial
The ASOM Foundation hosts a wreath laying ceremony every Memorial Day at noon.
