It is that time of year where everything starts happening here at the ASOM. Saturday May 6, 2017 at 11am in the parade field we will honor the Vietnam Veteran with the Vietnam War Remembrance Ceremony. This year we will honor the POW and their families. Guest speakers this year are CSM (Ret)  Jimmy Spencer and MAJ Tony Aguilar.

The second Saturday in May at 8am we will start the building of the Field of Honor if you wish to help bring gloves. The third Saturday in May the Field of Honor opening ceremony will be provided by the Downtown Alliance. and of course, on Memorial Day join us as we lay a wreath for the SOF K9 Memorial canines. That ceremony starts at noon.

One of the biggest things in 2017 is the 100th Anniversary of the 82D Airborne Division. We will try to stay on top of the events throughout the year the 82D has planned. All American Week 100 will be from 22 May to 25 May on Fort Bragg, North Carolina. The Division was formed in 1917 for entry into World War I and stands tall today as the countries Guard of Honor.       May 2017, Monthly Feature

We start the month of May with the Vietnam War Remembrance Ceremony. However, did you know the Foundation staff honors the Vietnam Veterans every time we find them in the museum. We perform adhoc ceremonies every day. There is nothing more rewarding than thanking a Vietnam Veteran and welcoming them home.

The Airborne & Special Operations Museum Foundation supports the museum with marketing, advertising and financial support for its programs and exhibits. Opening the doors on August 16th, 2000, the 60th anniversary of the original United States Army’s Test Platoon’s first parachute jump, the museum offers free admission, a main exhibit gallery, temporary gallery, four-story tall theater, video theater and a motion simulator ride. It is located in Historic Downtown Fayetteville on the corner of Bragg Boulevard and Hay Street, adjacent to the city’s Freedom Memorial Park and the recently built North Carolina Veteran’s Park. The main gallery is designed as a self-guiding tour, in chronological order, through the history of the airborne and special operations soldiers, from 1940 to the present. The temporary gallery changes throughout the year and displays a myriad of exhibits pertaining to the United States Army, airborne and special operation units through their history and conflicts from World War II to the present. For a nominal fee visitors can ride the 24 seat motion simulator. Find our privacy policy here.
