Message from the Director
So what does everyone think about this new website? My hat's off to Biz Tools One our webmaster for this great job. I hope everyone will click through our new website and enjoy as we grow.
What's the latest here at the foundation? Well let me tell you:
The original Iron Mike arrive the other day and although he is still in his crate we are looking forward to his unveiling ceremony on 14 August 2010in conjunction with National Airborne Day.
General Hugh Shelton's statue will be dedicated on 27 August 2010 near our parade field and we look forward to welcoming a NC native to the neighborhood. The event will be hosted by the United States Army Special Operations Command and more information to follow.
On 15 July 2010 we will be honored to receive a gift from Booz Allen Hamilton in conjunction with their opening a new office here in town. Booz Allen Hamilton are giving a named gift in honor of the XVIIIth Airborne Corps exhibit. We are always appreciative of corporate sponsors.
The Foundation works tirelessly on fundraising, marketing and advertising the museum to support its sustainment and growth. We are very proud to show off this new website as a part of our ongoing efforts in this endeavor. We are hoping to improve our contact with our supporters to always provide you a way to know the many events and happenings at the museum on a daily basis. My Staff has recently pulled off our first Ever Easter Egg Scramble, golf tournament and soon the “Thanks to Veterans” and “Movie-n-the Camp”. All of these are planned to be annual events that you can place on your calendar.
We also want to share with everyone that we are open to visiting school groups, scouts, military and other groups. The museum has been and can be utilized for weddings, receptions, military formals, conferences and reunions just to mention a few. Our Volunteer program averages about 75 adult volunteers on the museum side and about 25 on the foundation side. There are a number of ways to support the museum, from honoring a loved one with a Roll Call enrollment or placing a paver stone in our Reflection Garden to honor and memorial gifts. We have a robust gift shop to find that special item for someone dear to you.
Please come back often to see what is happening at the museum and get involved.
Thank you,
Paul Galloway
