Donate Artifacts
ASOMF Artifact Donation Policy
We are always open to artifact donations; however, the Department of the Army and the Center of Military History have strict regulations and policies concerning the donation of artifacts to the museum. U.S. Army regulations do not allow our non-profit foundation to accept donations of artifacts or historical pieces. Do not send anything of this nature to our foundation, as they are not authorized to collect. Artifacts or collections must be approved by the Center of Military History (CMH) before the United States Army Airborne and Special Operations Museum can physically accept the item. Once approved by CMH, we will contact you and provide delivery information.
Please review the following information before contacting us with potential donations. Artifacts must have a provenance to Airborne or Special Operations Soldiers, units or operations and meet at least one of the following criteria to be considered for acceptance:
- Rare or one of a kind item
- Connection to a historically significant person, unit, operation, battle, event, etc.
The museum does not accept memorabilia or commemorative items such as trophies, plaques, coins, reunion items, etc.
Please do not send items or collections directly to the museum or walk in with items and drop them off without approval. Items dropped off at the museum are not retained and may be discarded. Artifacts should not be mailed to the Museum. We are not responsible for accepting these types of deliveries without the approval of the ASOM Collections Manager.
The Artifact Donation Process:
If you believe you have an item or collection that meets the criteria listed above, please contact james.g.hallis.civ@army.mil. The following information is required before the item or collection will be accepted by the museum:
- Provide a detailed description of each item, where it came from, how you obtained it, etc.
- Provide at least two quality photos of each item you intend to donate.
- Provide related Soldier or Veteran name(s), serving unit information, dates, locations, and any documentation; paperwork and/or pictures of the Soldier or Veteran wearing, carrying or using the item intended for donation.
We will respond to you as soon as possible via email. If you have any questions or concerns about the donation process, please email both:
Disclaimer: All donations to the United States Army Museum Enterprise are unconditional.
