“Mother of Normandy” Movie Screening & Book Signing
September 29, 2022 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm

In celebration of All American Week, join us at the ASOM’s Yarborough Bank Theater on September 29, at 3:00 PM for a screening of the film, “Mother of Normandy”, a documentary about a woman who bridged an ocean between her beloved corner of France and the families who lost loved ones in the battle for the liberation of Europe during World War II. Simone Renaud, wife of the wartime Mayor of Sainte Mere-Eglise, spent 44 years expressing to the families of the fallen, and to surviving veterans of the D-Day invasion, her undying gratitude for freeing her country from Nazi occupation. She expressed that gratitude one letter at a time, one personal visit at a time, and by arranging commemorations that continue today, nearly 25 years after her death.
Following this screening, there will be a discussion with Monsieur Maurice Renaud, son of Mayor Alexander and Simone Renaud, and Doug Stebleton, producer of the “Mother of Normandy” movie. Jeff Stoffer, author of “Mother of Normandy: The Story of Simone Renaud”, Monsieur Renaud and Mr. Stebleton will also sign books that will be available for sale.
This is a free event.
